Only in "1/2" which means it is really not a 1/2" but that is how it is labeled.

The 5 pieces I got all measure more on the 20" x 20" size so either they were picked though or there was only one that measured 23" and it was long gone.

Anyway I'm off to get my CBN wheel and lunch so later today I post some pictures of the surfaces and a ply count etc.

So here is what I have found so far. This has 9 layers which all seem uniform as in no thin veneers on the surface. Out of the 5 pieces that I took off the pile (I did not sort them for size or quality, just first come first taken). One piece had open knots on both faces. One had a open knot on one face, three had no open knots on either side. Examining the sides, 4 on each of the 5 pieces there were no open voids visible.

I used a bathroom scale to weigh the 5 pieces and that totaled 22 pounds. 20" x 20" = 400 square inches per piece times the 5 piece for a total of 2000 square inches. Converting that to square feet that is 13.888 square feet. Weight per square foot is then 1.58 pounds. I have to reference that to some other materials but it feels heavy to me.

At the $1.99 price and that would be a total of 5 times that or $9.95 for 13.888 square feet or $.71 a square foot.

I have a few picture to share so you can see the surface quality or lack of it.
So that is about it for tonight.

Baltic Birch does weigh more then "ply wood" I have not done your analyses but it is denser and more adhesives which add to the weight. The stuff I by at Kettle Moraine Hard Woods, both sides are clear.

Same avaliable at my Menards I sorted the pile and ended up with 10 pieces with no knots (one had a quarter, 25 cent piece size, tight knot and 1 had 2 dime size knots, on 1 side each, just to clarify) I bought them to make storage cabinet drawers boxes, ( 4"high sides) using a drawer lock bit for joints. The Russian Birch plywood machined well, clamped and glued up very well. Note: 2 - 4" X 20" pieces De-laminated right up the middle, looked like there was little or no glue on those ply's. Other wise very happy with results and cheaper than sanded birch plywood which was my first choice.

This is not Baltic Birch ply as I am sure you know or as I know it. Baltic Birch has 13 plys for 3/4". There are fir plys that have 7 plys but most have 5.

"Real" Baltic Birch has no knots and no voids and is AA on both sides as I said in another post.

Russian does not equal Baltic Birch.

I know what the symbol is. How do you type on a keybord?

Keep in mind the thickness listed, it is not "3/4". Here is a little table of plys vs thickness


3 mm ≈ 1/8″ (3 plies)
6 mm ≈ 1/4″ (5 plies)
9 mm ≈ 3/8″ (7 plies)
12 mm ≈ 1/2″ (9 plies)
18 mm ≈ 3/4″ (13 plies)

So it has the right number of plys.

It is not claiming to be baltic birch so no one should be confused, it is what the title says.

I still need to look up the weight for a comparison.
