I'm trying to remember where I saw an article, and it wasn't long ago about an air station and they used quick connect couplers to hang their air tools from. Is this sounding familiar to anyone?

It sounded like an interesting idea and I wanted to find it again so I could digest how they mounted the couplers to hang the tools from.

I have a trip to Harbor Freight on tap for later this week and I'm guess that will be a good source of the parts I need. I've also got to find one of my 20% off coupons. I actually had to go in without a coupon on my last visit, well to be honest I wasn't planning on stopping there but when I didn't find what I was looking for else where I went there and found it but had to pay full price.

If you have a welder, You can purchase "Steel" female quick connect couplers and weld them to a thin strip of steel which you can then attach to any wood structure or framing.

If you don't have a welder, You can purchase the "Male" quick connects and using a 1/4" pipe thread tap, Thread some thin steel and thread the couplers to the strip. If you go this route, Make sure to plug off the hole on the coupler after threading into the steel strip.

JMO, I wouldn't use the commercially built holders which have your air tool hanging in the position where dust and contaminates can fall into the nipple. The dust which will fall into the nipple can possibly cause a lot of damage to the vanes of the air motors.

Just as if you store an air pump gun with the barrel facing up and dust falls down the barrel and into the chamber and screws up the seals...

Thank you but those are not the one I saw. The one on post 14 of the garagejournal is something like what I saw but different, you know the same principal....

Anyway it was fun looking at those ideas too. At $2.99 each at harbor freight I just do a few to see how I like it before investing too much cash.

I don't like the idea of the open hole either. The one I saw they were hanging upside down under a board/shelf but I'm unsure how they attached them the couplers I mean.

I'm sure I have a tap of the size you mentioned so I could just get some bar stock and drill and tap it for a strip which I could then attach below a shelf/cabinet.

Storage is always interesting, working several ideas for a subset of the air tools I have so it is still in the planning stages and not much decided yet.

I use a pegboard something? holder which is a row of double prongs (thought it was screwdrivers but it wasn't - found this on picture of what I use). Then I just attached a shop cloth to the top which I drape over the open ends. Having the holes up makes it easy to put in a few drops of oil.

Here is a picture of similar to what I use. I had to bend the prongs closer to hold the groove in the nipple.

It finally came to me that I had packed a bag when we were called in to grandchild sit a couple of weeks ago. I packed some reading material in case I had some free time with nothing to do.... well that didn't happen and so I never got around to doing the reading.

Checked to see what I had packed and sure enough a recent addition from woodsmith. So now I have to do the reading but it is found!

Had a coworker introduce me to easy insert connectors. No need to slide the connector to insert, do have to slide it to remove. Below is the example he showed me, but said there are others similarly functional. Can't remember the price, more than the typical ones, maybe around $10+/- each for male and female connectors, but would be sweet at the tool and very of the hose.
