over arm router questions

I recently acquired a stand alone overarm router table.
It is the version that accepts both the router above and has an insert in the table to accept a router under neath as well.

I might be missing something here, but is there a lock on the height adjustment pinion? Mine seems to lack this.

Also, What brand of router fits the insert? My craftsman hand-held doesn't match up to any of the hole patterns. I'd rather not modify the insert to accept the craftsman either.. For the cost of a new router, I'd rather leave the tool as it was.

No lock on mine but, it stays where I set it. I use a PC 690 router motor only in the carriage. Have never attempted to mount it underneath.

The handle that you raise and lower the router with has a second function, that being when twisted it locks the height. So it is very likely that you have it but just didn't know about it.

Second issue is what router to use. I have a pair of Hitachi M12V routers in mine. So as to what other routers to use to fit the hole pattern I would direct you to this thread as a starting point:

Richard - as is typical with Ed's answers - He is right on!
The twist does all the locking you'll need. Make sure the bottom end of the handle shaft is smooth. Mine had a burr!
After filing, it is good!
Don't know if the burr was something I caused, or a manufacture issue.

Got it locking. I shoulda known it would be clean and simple.

Does anyone have a link to the exploded parts diagram that shows the insert that holds the guide pin for pin routing?
