In a 1952 cover photo of The Handyman, a curiosity exits for me.
When you look at the man in the photo, observe his waistline is clearly above the working surface of the sheet he is cutting: Just how long do you recon his legs have to be to reach the floor?

Men wore their pants much higher in those days even sometimes as high as the navel. Levi's and Wrangler started the trend for "hip hugger" that became so prevalent in the 60's. I was practically born in Wranglers because of the ranch I grew up on, so I never knew the "pantywaist" pants style....

It's just one of those things when I see it, and something doesn't fit just right in my mind sort of thing. The high waistline fashion maybe. We are all different proportionally I know.
I am 6' but my head solidly hits the headliner in an Armada, when the 6'7" Sales Rep fits in with an inch to spare. When we sat down on a bench together, I was almost a head taller than him, and it blew his mind. If my legs were proportional to my torso I might be 6' 8" or so.
I guess the guy could be standing on something for the photo, or he may be wearing the trousers that high. When you consider he is already bending at the waist, I am not so sure what the deal is.
