Power Pro upgrade brand new with error code

Hi folks, I'm a newbie here so forgive me if I'm asking about something that's already been discussed.
I received my DIY Power pro upgrade today, and just had to get started on it. I followed the manual/DVD to the letter, but when I fired it up the first time, it played the music, and flashed the warnings, etc, but I immediately got RPS State error 1. I checked in the manual for what might be wrong, tried that 'fix' but still no 'joy'. Any help would be 'hot' and hopefully I can avoid having to tear it all down and ship it back to SS. IIUC a sensor is not 'seeing' a led source. Look for something blocking the light path.

Yes, I took the back cover off the motor, and looked at the gap between the fan and the sensor; it looked to be a bit over the 1/32 specified, so I loosened the set screw and tried to move it in a bit but it didn't look like it moved at all. It appears to be close enough to 'read'. I guess for my next 'magical trick', I'll try blowing it out, though it should be clean...I've never done any work with it, it's brand new. If that doesn't do it, my next thing is to recheck all the wiring and plugs to make sure they're plugged in all the way. Thanks.

Update: Spoke with SS people about problem with sensors 'seeing' too much light (IR) aka RPS State error 1, and if there would be anything I could do at this end. Since it's under warranty, the best course is to return to SS. They have sent me replacement electronics (motor, 'brain', and control console)...it's coming this morning by FedEx. This power pro upgrade is apparently one of those pieces of equipt that when it works, it works so well that nothing could surpass it; but if it has a problem it doesn't work at all, and there's nothing under the sun that will make it work. Ah well...such is life. Welcome to the digital/electronic age! LOL

Just think about how good you will be at the DIY operation.

Sorry about the issues with your new headstock. Shopsmith came through,as always with the necessary parts. It's a good thing that they avoided the return shipping of the entire headstock and are just shipping parts.
