Of course I didn't need another hammer, but it just needed adopting by someone that will love it.
It could have just as easily been acquired by some hack that would abuse it.
It is a nice Stanley that will clean up easily with a bit of steel wool. It was tagged at $2 but it was late in the morning and everything was half price.
BTW, a number of other items for the farm shop were saved as well.
Also a nice cross drawer file cabinet found its way into the back of the van for $7.50.

I did not equip with Shopsmiths in spite of the setups but because of them.

Careful! The last two weeks were spent dealing with the death of my father in law. He was a auction person. He bought and sold and made a great living. However the things he could not would not sell built up. End result two car garage filled with things, basement filled with things, 35 by 65 enclosed pole barn filled with things. 4 boats, 4 whole tractors with front end loader and back hoes, 4 tractors in pieces and enough left over to build at least two more. 4 cars and 5 trucks most not running.
He had 100 hammers like the one you pictured. Along with hundreds of wrenches, screw drivers, socket sets. We hired a scrap iron company to haul the scrap iron from the property at last count they have removed 10 dual axle truck loads of junk. 100 gals of paint, and by low guess 500 cans of spray paint cans.
I found a case of 3 in 1 oil brought home 7 cans brother in laws took rest. Brand new cheap harbor freight multi meter, pair of forceps, unique pair of nail pullers, and an old German made pocket screw driver set. The rest I had to leave behind or wasn't worth taking.
Worst part having to go through all that to find stuff that was worth keeping. Heartbreaking! Very tiring on top of everything else.
