Well got the new ER in use today drilling, I took off the Speed Changer that was on it, it was a bit sloppy laterally, I put on a rebuilt and that all was Soda Blasted I bought on EBay this winter for one I have in rehab that does not have one. My other ER as a dedicated DP has the original SC on it with new cog belts, it is a bit noisy, the SC was all cleaned up but no laterally slop, so did not change out any thing on it, it has the original SS pulleys, and the Sheaves are belt polished on it, and set at low speed setting. The new one I bought on EBay the sheaves were soda blasted so a good grip with the cog belts
This new one needed a new 3 step pulley since it had a 2 step on the HS. So I got Skips HD balanced pulleys on it, ya 80$ some for low speed?, I could see them for SC high speed use but what the heck, you have to dispense the wealth to keep those who supply in business.
Well any way this ER runs as smooth as Silk in DP slow speed mode, my other one is a bit noisy, I dont know if it is the pulleys and rebuilt SC, this new one was used as a Lathe, so I am guessing has a bunch of run time on it. You would think that the original designer was Swiss and made whatches, not lathes, but Germany is close and borders Switzerland!

OBTW, the freezer for the bushing,bearings, and I did a Corned Beef with cabbage and garlic parsley potatoes for mom and I tonight, A June St Patty's night dinner, turned the oven up to 400*, with the mating part in the oven, bushings out of the freezer, no fit, and yes I used my Nomex oven gloves!!!! Chris N!!;) So either the 39$ Harbor Freight press, or there are a lot of machine shops around moms house that will do it for about 15-20$ cash. Dont think I need an Arbor Press laying around here. Put it on them.
