I found after I upgraded to the PowerPro that the set screws which hold tools on the spindle quickly work themselves loose. My conical disk and saw blade arbors were my biggest problem. I wrapped the set screws with teflon tape and re-inserted them, problem solved. No more loose set screws.

Great idea. I've been using red Loctite but it does wear off.

just the opposite, red is and usually requires a release liquid, where blue does not.

Perhaps a bit off topic but I wanted to point out this product which is good for smaller set-screws, 1/4" and under. I just learned about it back in April of this year and so far I like it. Note that it is Purple......... I think the small tube ran me $5 or maybe more like $6 but when working on smaller set-screws it seems to be a better choice.
Note the brand if you go looking for this.

I may give this a try on some 5/16" stuff but so far I've justed used as recommened on smaller sizes. It should work for that as well just a weaker bond.

Thanks for the clarification on the blue vs red stuff.
For those screws that lock the different arbors on I use the Loctite on them. Of course, they get unscrewed often. So, just how effective is that stuff after a few cycles?
My saw arbor has come loose a few times, hence the concern.

Gene I dont know, when I use it, the blue, it is for a one time set, not repetitive, and I have not had to use it on my SS stuff, which is only sanding disc and DP chucks, which since I have dedicated SS for a DP and a sanding shorty, disc and belt, I dont have to tighten and retighten things, unless I put on the conical disc, or change flat disc for a different grit.
That is a project for Dusty to do a test on, he has been scarce here, I hope he is healthy.

Just wondering if the loosening of the set screws can be attributed to the RPM regulation of the Power Pro? The rapid on/off pulse might be a factor. I put a bit of blue Loctite on the power coupling hubs after they loosened when the PP was new. I also had the setscrew on the motor pulley work loose twice and had to root through the sawdust in the motor pan to find it the second time. Blue stuff again. One thing I tried was to drill a small .064 dia hole completely through a set screw and put some green string trimmer string through the hole and cut the string flush with the top of the threads.
This worked for a long time before I had to replace the string. I think I got the tip from another woodworking site.
