I purchased my belt sander about four years ago (maybe more) from a seller on Ebay. Happy purchase, I think from a member here. Came really clean with a new belt. Yesterday was the first time I tried to use it! Worked great for about two or three minutes, tracked well. Then the belt just came apart at the seam!- The adhesive holding it probably dried up and just let go. No problem, I had a brand new spare. A ceramic belt, Shopsmith branded, that I bought at Lowes. Can't get it to track, and it won't hold tension. What's the proper procedure to tension the belt? I turn the tensioning wheel but it won't hold. Anyone have a spare manual? I will probably order one, but a digital copy would be great!

CN that tension knob is a real funky knob, I had the same problem, JPG sent me the instructions, printed them out and hang it by the BS, unfortunately, they are 93 miles away, I am sure he will chime in soon.

Funky is right! At least the roller spins freely so I know it was lubed well. I watched the sawdust video last night and would hate to have to do that lube job! Someday I probably will, but not today. Is the tension spring loaded? If so, there is no tension on it now...

CN, i haved not used mine for awhile and mine is loaded, but it is one of SS most illogical things to figure out on your own without the instructions, which I did not have either, until JPG told me how it works. Lets hope he is loosing at the Casino and comes home early

I can assure you I try NOT to!

And never use an ATM!!!!

Never take more than I am willing to lose.

I usually take more home than I left home with.(some days the karma is just not cooperative )

FWIW belts that come with used sanders(strip sander as well) rarely last long.

Back to de problem at hand.
And it has been a few months since a casino has seen me. Only Blackjack!!!!! Slot machines are a money pit.

Chris, do you mean to say that you had not read the instructions before.

If I had instructions I might have read them! No information came from the eBay seller, at least none that I know of! This was the first Shopsmith accessory I had ever purchased, and the last one I have tried! Don't know what took me so long... It is a really good addition to the Shopsmith collection. I plan on ordering the manual soon.
