BEST WAY TO CLEAN ALUMINUM SS TABLES
Hi,
Anyone in here know the best way to clean these tables? I know it is not rust but they are hazed and not the smoothest condition. It is a 510 so the tubes on ends of tables are pitted some but think they can be buffed out. Appreciate any advice you may have.
Thanks,
Tom

I use 320 then 400 Aluminum Oxide with mineral spirits then clean them with MS and then Johnsons Paste Wax.

Greenie, Grayling, SS stand alone BS and BS SPT, jointer and belt sander, 3 Ers with Speed Changers. I think those 3 cover my ER needs, and space for them.

Yep that is how I clean mine. I vary in grid of sandpaper though.ERLover wrote:I use 320 then 400 Aluminum Oxide with mineral spirits then clean them with MS and then Johnsons Paste Wax.

Re: BEST WAY TO CLEAN ALUMINUM SS TABLES
I use 80 grit glass media blasting and then 320 grit on a PC air powered random orbit sander along with Nylox wheels on the small areas. That is on 10ER's. The glass bead blasting won't work the MK V painted tables but the 320 grit ROS will work on the aluminum top surface.

Re: BEST WAY TO CLEAN ALUMINUM SS TABLES
Pics of a bad cast iron SS Band Saw table. I started with with 240 AO wet with MS then, 320, then 400. Oops deleted off of Desk top, no I am not doing a 3 thing process again tonight.
I may need to get a smart phone/camera, take the pic and email it to myself, easier then the take it on the camera pic, send it to the mahine, do it on the computer, try and save it, then find it.
