An idea for the forum...

Post by ChrisNeilan »

First off, I love the forum. I would ponder (one)addition to it for the purpose of this thread. Many of us watch woodworking videos on YouTube. I think it would it be nice to have an area designated on this forum as a Woodworking Video section where we can link to videos of some of our project builds. It would more than likely feature use of the Shopsmith family of tools, but not necessarily so. I think it would be of interest to see how many of us use the tools. It's easier for me learn by watching as opposed to reading. I for one have just started making woodworking videos and will be uploading one later this evening showing a build using the jointer on a Mark 7 and lathe turning on the 10ER (along with some non-Shopsmith tools as well). Of course any mistakes have been edited out, and I did forget to press record once or twice... :)

Good idea. Kind of like the "Heads Up - Bargain Available" topic.

Actually, no. More like a separate section where you start a thread with a video, and then it is open to comments and discussions.

You do know that if you upload your videos to YouTube you already can embed them in your posts where they will play in a window.

Yes, I know that, and did that last week. :) I just like videos to be kept in one place. When in the mood to watch a video you could just browse the video section.

I think this is a really good idea. I am still very inexperienced in woodworking, and having the visual that videos supply is wonderful. To have recommended videos from Shopsmith users would be great.

Thanks, Chris. I really like this idea and it would be really convenient to find the videos to see what we want to see. And, for those who like to jabber all over the place, we could simply delete his posts. :p

I don't really mind the jabbering. If anyone gets out of line call him/her on it. If a post is annoying, i scroll past it. Life is too short. We are all different, and I embrace that.

I totally agree Chris. If someone wants to ignore a certain person then go to the user control panel and add them to your foe list. Problem solved.

Now if only there were a way to not see the "quoted" reply's sent by friends. Or perhaps if we only wanted to not see that persons posts in say the community section...... Just wanted to point that out.
