Bowl from a 2 X 4

What can you do "artsy" with a 2 X 4? And on a Shopsmith? I did this for the Summer's Woodworkers 2x4 challenge.

Please talk to me about what appears to be a stationary fence between the rip fence and the blade.

I can see that it prevents the cutoff from being picked up by the blade. NEAT.

It is a simple piece of scrap MDF that I ripped at an angle (45?) and stuck down with double sided tape - just two short pieces so you can easily lift it off when done. I kept a narrow flat on the top. It servers to make a quick and dirty zero clearance insert, and the bevel keeps the pieces from getting thrown back at you. Best of all, cheap and reusable!

Thanks for the expatiation on the home made saw piece thing, I figured it out and like on a commercial mill, when the jaws pick up the piece and stacks it.
Your wedding band does concern me though, they crush easy in an accident and cut into the skin and have to be snipped off. Sometimes an ER trip. I am sure you are aware of that and have personal reasons to always wear it, even in the shop.

Your wedding band does concern me though, they crush easy in an accident and cut into the skin and have to be snipped off. Sometimes an ER trip. I am sure you are aware of that and have personal reasons to always wear it, even in the shop.

I agree, shouldn't were the ring in the shop. More dangerous that that i think is my wrist watch. Problem is they have become part of me! I don't realze they are there until I view my own video during editing.

I noticed the watch too, but is not on the tool rest and has a snap off expanding band, the ring is finger flesh crusher/cutter.
Ask me how I know? Not me, a friend, same band as mine/his and yours, basically, forward edge got crushed into the inside of his finger, cut deep, finger swelled, flap of the cut skin could not remove it off. Not a bad wound, but could not get the ring off and no nippers, so a trip to the ER for them to do it, and a few stitches and $$$$.
