Got our new benefit amounts from SS

So remember last year when we go no increase........

This year the cost of living increase after the new rate for medicare........ there wasn't one. They couldn't raise medicare cost because we got no cost of living last year so they are making up a little of it this year. The small increase was eaten by the medicare increase.

So 2015 = 2016 = 2017.

I've been working on next years budget and was wondering how this was all going to play out. Now I don't have to wonder.

Of course this is only us, you might have fared better.

I haven't seen mine yet, but I'm not surprised. Mail service here is getting very intermittent since the Post Office got rid of their long time employees and replaced them with lower paid people. We don't get delivery every day anymore because they can't keep enough people working who will brave the bad weather. Every time some of the carriers quit, they are short handed until they can hire more and attempt to train them before they quit too. So, some of those days, there is no mail delivery here.

Mine is a 0 increase - Also a 0 decrease.

Can't really complain. The monthly dole is still coming.

I know, I payed FICA for many years, but the amount I received to date far exceeds the amount me and my employers contributed. So--- Thanks to FDR and all the taxpayers.

I have not seen mine yet either but I suspect it will be a net 0. The raise was only 0.3%. I did get a bit on my military retirement though, $5.28.

Haven't seen mine yet either but I always get a kick when I hear a politician talk about seniors living on a fixed income.
Here is a news flash for our disconnected politicians , seniors are living on diminishing incomes. They are not fixed. Non existent interest income and increases far lower than the rate of inflation

Come tax time the added cost of living shows up, the increase in medicare doesn't and with inflation you can bet we come up shorter and shorter.

However it is nice to see some $$ coming in, and who knows maybe the interest rate will trickle in a few more dollars later next year. It's interesting how quick the loan rates can adjust to the changes but how slow the interest rate on our savings adjusts.

I am happy that those of you who collect Social Security did not realize a loss. I am sad you did not realize a gain. So, for those of us who worked for the DOD for 35 years have a very different story. Because we had Federal Employees Health Insurance (implemented in 1959) to last us our whole life, we did not initially pay into Medicare when it came along. Our retirement system was implemented in August 1920, so we did not participate in Social Security. In 1982, several things happened. We started paying into Medicare. All new hires from Oct. 1, 1983 no longer could participate in our retirement program but was now part of the Social Security system. Because I don't get a Social Security check, my part B of Medicare is now $140 per month. Of course, my Federal Employees Health Insurance premium went from $501 per month to $522 per month. So, my big increase of $11 cost me $29 per month from my pocket. I guess we'll stay on the bean diet longer. LOL
