Kregg K5 Modification

Post by mbcabinetmaker »

I recently purchased a K5 jig because I have some pocket holes that need to be more precise and shorter in length then the 3 1/2" slot that my castle machine leaves. Yesterday I decided to add a center ruler. It works great. I'm impressed with this jig but I had to order a dust hood for a K4 because the swivel one that comes with the K5 is so flimsy and such a bad design that it keeps popping off.  Come on Kregg you are a better company than to put out such an inferior product.

Mark, where did you find that ruler? I like your wood wings, may do something like that on my K3.

I found the ruler at Woodcraft several years ago. Peachtree Woodworking also has one. I just scuffed the back side with some 100 grit paper and glued it down with contact cement.

It's called a center finding ruler. A quick search on Amazon will also find one.
