Lathe duplicator parts missing?

I purchased this lathe duplicator from an auction but these don't look right. I think I have the wrong cutter support. The part I have is longer than the one pictured in the parts diagram. Any idea what this is for?

Not only longer, but appears to have a larger OD.
Not a clue have I.

It looks like I was right about the cutter support being wrong.
But what in the world could the shaft that I have be for?

Man, if you could get some pictures, I would be grateful. I have google search images for a while and I cannot find a close up picture of the actual cutter support I am suppose to have. After checking the price of a new one ($85), I was thinking of building one from this mystery shaft I have. If you do happen to have time to take a picture, could you lay it beside a machinist ruler in the picture also?

wow thats helpful. I have the same starret rule with a stop. I am going to give it a go. I wonder if I could use the shopsmith lathe to mill it down. Maybe I could use a grinder while it is spinning in the lathe.

The shaft is .600".
I've got some work to do but I think it is do-able.
