Mobile Chest for Shopsmith Parts & Accs.

As per Dusty's vote I will start a new thread on small mobile chests for storing the odds and ends that are used with our Shopsmith equipment. The pic is of the two chests that I am currently using.

Wow, they're beautiful. They are nice and compact, but have plenty of storage and the casters make them very convenient. What brand are they? How many zillions should I budget?

Relatively inexpensive to build. I will put together a materials list and more pics soon.

It looks a whole lot better than the cardboard boxes I am using. Looks very organized.

I am also interest ing more details regarding your rolling boxes. One of my goals with moving is to have everyting on wheels. I can't wait to see your details. Jim

I found some of my drawings of the last two that I made and some of the source materials I used. When you spend winters in one place and summers in another I tend to loose track of things. I will get down to the shop in the morning and take several pics of one of them and give the general size along with the source materials and that should give folks a fair idea of what is in the simple mobile cabinet. The whole idea is to start with the Harbor Freight furniture dolly and some good lidded plastic parts boxes and build around them.

Folks,
Please excuse my delay, and poor photography in getting back to posting info on the parts chest. I have been having one of those senior weeks for the last year now. The materials list is as follows........

1. I was unable to find a source for the small plastic parts organizer I used in
the top, so I will give you the dimensions and perhaps you will have better luck than I did in finding them. 14 1/2" L x 11 1/4" W x 2 1/2" D

2. Large plastic organizer is Stanley #14005.....Home DePot

3. Small furniture dolly 18" x 12 1/4" 93888-0VGA......Harbor Freight

4. 1/2" plywood......I built two and I think I used two sheets

5. 1/4" plywood for the back and drawer bottoms

6. Screws, bolts, nuts and trim wood to satisfy

All of the case measurements are outside and nominal. Build from the furniture dolly up and to the size and number of organizers you choose to use. I am old and slow so anything I can keep organized and get on wheels is a help and these little chests have been a help.
