I have a older miter gage that came with the SS mk v the unit was bought used ,,,the nylon glides in it are more of a set screw type , to adjust them it takes a flat small screw driver.

Looking at the miter gage replacement parts list from SS website it gives me a part number
270 514566 Glide x2

After ordering a replacement part ,,,it came and was more like a bolt .
It has the wrong size threads

Is it possible I have a brand of miter gage other then a SS?

Or maybe there was a different glide used that is not listed on SS website?

Maybe a picture of the gauge would help to identify it. They haven't changed much except for the bar for the newer tables.

Does the miter bar fit snugly in the miter track? If it does, it is probably a Shopsmith Miter Gauge. I know there are at least two models.

Just a thought: Could you use nylon set screws as a replacement? You also need to speak with Customer Service. They should know better than any of us if there is a different model and if it is supported.

I have the hold down off do to using a jig .

The bar fits good.

I spoke with them when I ordered the part .

I could probably use a nylon set screw , that could be what is in there now .

Hobbyman2, I am looking at the miter guage that came with my MK5 500 that I bought new in the early 1990's. It looks just like yours. Mine has two nylon like hex head bolts with a screw driver slot; the bolts are on each end of the miter base. I took one off, and it measures a total of about 3/4" with the thread lenght being about 1/2" Looks like it is for smooth gliding on the table and stabilization.

Yes there are two type of guides and they are quite different. I have the old parts listing so I will look up the part number and post here.

There are several other parts changes and some of those parts for the old version can not be gotten through shopsmith. I hope those screws are not one of them as I have several of the old models.

The guide change occur about the time they made the ribbed table for the 510, the smaller guides could catch on the ribs at certain angle adjustments.
