I gotta ask ... what has a 1-1/8" top, that wouldn't be just as good or better with a 1-3/4" top?

Its for a credenza that I am building. 1 3/4" would look too heavy for my taste.

I had to face joint everything and then plane it down. I used my track saw to straight line it and then ripped it on the table saw and back through the jointer before gluing. It was a lot of work and I usually use 5/4 material for these but I had the 8/4 on hand and wanted to free up the lumber rack.

I was wondering if ya did it with a jointer plane when ya said the old wood shop lol
The glue joints look very tight !
Also did you make your own pegs for the dowels

I understand. My personal tastes run more toward the massive look, but everything must be in proportion.
Like the ash table and bench below, custom-made by a master craftsman.
