Conversation at Rockler today

I was at a different area in state for work today and got to stop by Rockler on the way home. I bought a very large Forstner bit.

The salesman said, "What are you driving that bit with?"

I said, "Oh, my lathe. I'll be working on a coffee-mug turning kit."

He went on to describe a new expensive computerized drill press he had just bought, how quiet it was, and how much he enjoyed it.

"Is that the Nova drill-press with the DVR motor," I said?

"Yes, it's great. It even has a lookup chart for drill bits, considering Forstner, Brad Point, soft wood, hard wood...."

I said, "Yeah, I've got all that on my Shopsmith DVR Power Pro. I've had it since 2010."

LOL! Given that Nova's DVR lathe had no need for that kind of information and given also the previous Nova-Shopsmith collaboration, I can't help but wonder whether the look up chart that comes with the new Nova DVR drill press was sourced from Shopsmith.
