Trucks showed up and blocked off my driveway and parked along the road in front of my house. One bucket truck with another towing a bobcat and a dumptruck with tree trimmnings in it. They got the bucket down in the middle of the street blocking off the street until they scooped out all the sawdust. After about 20 minutes, they moved the bucket truck up in the yard and left the chipper out in the street. Oh, this was all for a house across the street. A house across the street right out my front door has a large dumpster in the street as they are doing some remodel. Wow! All this clutter in the street really slowed down most traffic. An old woman was coming from the local hospital, but slow down was not on her agenda. The men cleared out of the street. They proceeded with their work to remove a tall straight cedar. It has beautiful reds, pinks and mauves inside with a very small sap wood. They were putting the cut tree into the dump truck when a man from the local school maintenance stopped by. The cutters retrieved all the cedar from the dump truck and gave it to the school. The tree was saved from the dump, the school got free wood minus the cutting for their projects and made a contact with another woodworker who may have some hickory. When they drove off, only the cedar tree was missing but had gone to a great cause. Made this old man happy.
