PowerPro 220v surge protector
Hi all,
I am going to run a 220 circuit to my PowerPro and have been scouring the web looking for a surge protector. Anyone here with a PowerPro know where I can get a surge protector?
Thanks
Jack

Re: PowerPro 220v surge protector
Use 2 120v protectors(at the fuse box).
I am not referring to the power strip things.
IMO they are only pandering to fear!
Sure you need it? Most consist merely of a varister that 'blows' when the first large 'surge' occurs then provides no protection after that.
Actually 'surge' is a misnomer. 'Transient' voltage 'spikes' is what they 'protect' against.

Re: PowerPro 220v surge protector
If you get a "whole house" surge protector it will cover not only your 220V circuit, but everything in your breaker panel. Here's one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005C ... YQZFIUZLLC
Re: PowerPro 220v surge protector
Thanks JPG and Videobear. My panel in the shop is run from my house panel so there is no main breaker in the shop just in the house. Can I still use the whole house mentioned above in my shop electrical panel?
Thanks
Jack

Are you telling me your shop is in a building different from where the breaker panel is and there is no breaker/panel in the shop?

Uh Oh!
I would hope that the "Sub-panel" would have a main breaker on it. AND a very heavy gauge wire feeding it. Preferably 8 ga.....

Mine is the same way. The shop is fed from a 60 amp breaker from the house. There is no "main breaker" in the shop panel. The shop is fed under underground from the house with 6 gauge (maybe 8 I don't remember). It was installed by a licensed electrician. I wired the shop myself.
The picture shows the shop panel.

Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle! Mine is wired the same way. I could swear there was a main breaker on the panel in the garage- nope!jsburger wrote:To quote claimdude..."My panel in the shop is run from my house panel so there is no main breaker in the shop just in the house."JPG wrote:Are you telling me your shop is in a building different from where the breaker panel is and there is no breaker/panel in the shop?
