Taking a Bow Out of a Table Top

I have old table that the top has bowed/cupped a bit. Any suggestions how to flatten it back out. I was thinking lay it out cup down and slowly weigh it down to work the bow out.

I think placing that 'cup' in shallow water will help(for a while). ;)

Then MAYBE the weight will help keep it from returning.

Finish will get in the way of all that.

What are the dimensions of the table top and how much cupping is there ?

Is it veneer or solid?
