any suggestions for getting hard glue off of parallel clamps?... picked up a couple in garage sale ---difficult to work---
any thoughts//other than elbow grease

What are the clamps made of? If plastic or wood, be careful at you can easily damage them. If metal, go after them with a sharp knife.

I've never done this, so take this with a grain of salt, but assuming metal, how about using a torch to melt, soften or burn off the glue?

Pictures would help, but I have put down tape to protect other surface areas and used a small finger plane adjusted to layer it down, then used scrapers to finish it out.

I presume this is the clamp types you are working with

sorry they are Bessey 48in parallel metal clamps ---thinking about heating them gently with a torch not sure if that's a good idea
not in shop so I cant take a picture

Brass wire wheel then.

De-Glue Goo reportedly works well for this.

Goof-Off works great on a lot of stuff, but I’m not sure about wood glue. It might be worth a try, especially if you already have some.

The trick here is to clean your clamps before the glue has a chance to really cure but when I don't do that I use an old chisel and a rubber mallet.

Unless you're trying to get them to shiny new again, I just use a putty knife. Globs pop off the metal easily. Smears take a bit more work.

I wax my clamps with Johnson's paste wax to help keep the glue from sticking.
