Dissaembly and Assembly

I am considering buying a Shopsmith Mark V. I The location I want to set it up in requires navigating narrow halls and narrow stairs. How easy or difficult is it to break a Shopsmith down into smaller peices and then reassemble?

You can break it down further if the 'narrows' are quite so.

One step is not included. You must loosen the clamp that holds the way tubes etc. to the base(left end).

Also the set screws that retain the way tubes in the base may(if an older level) will be somewhat hidden under the way tubes behind the hinge pin.

The set screws are cup pointed so the tubes will be a very tight fit coming out due to the set screw scarring.

P.S. Gentle persuasion always(up to as much is required).

Just a reminder about removing the way tube bracket on the left end - if it's tight, don't take a hammer to the webbing between the tubes - it's cast aluminum and easy to break.

A Shopsmith is quite narrow the way it is made. You likely don't need to disassemble anything to get it where you want it.
I put mine through a 29" wide door and down my basement stairs easily in one piece and still had extra room to maneuver it.
