Shopsmith 500 rip fence question

Hello,
I have a Shopsmith 500 made in the early 80s.
My question concerns how this fence locks to the table.
The "claw" on the outfeed side of the fence does not go very far under the table. It just jams against the bottom side. It is like it is not down far enough in the fence assembly, but there does not seem to be a adjustment for this and it seems correctly assembled otherwise.
Anybody else have this issue?

Here is something I put together some time back. It may help.
It covers all the rip fences including the original 500 and the newer modern one for the 500

Not an 'issue'. It is supposed to work that way. The back edge of the table is beveled. The 'hook' has a rounded shape on the end. That slides on the bevel and pulls the fence down tight to the table. The result is the fence is jammed between the 'hook' and the table top.
