If I can do it again I got it made lol

I have a couple more to post this was the first attempt that worked .

So I had to make a end for the cabinets used the tenon jig on the corners , I am starting to think this floating tenon may be my favorite way to make 45 deg corners .

I made a jig on the plywood to keep them square and identical ,,I made 4 total 2 were only 1/2 the length .

For some reason the program wont allow me to shrink thee height ,

these are ash stained a golden oak when setting beside a piece of oak I cant tell the difference

It looks just like oak to me. Is Ash cheaper to buy than oak? I've never seen it available around here so I haven't looked into using it.

I think it depends on where you are located as to price. Ash grows predominantly on the East coast. I have gotten it cheaper than oak from a local saw mill/lumberyard. I paid $17 for 1" x 11.5" x 11.75' of Ash while about the same size piece of Oak was about $28 last year. From what I understand this saw mill only buys trees/logs from the local area so what is available and price varies.

Ash is about to become extinct here because of the ash bore , one of the local mills I hear now is selling it for over 1.50 bdft green ,,, good trees are getting tougher to find. the trees are rotting on the ground .

We have native ash around here, but no sawmills to utilize it. Ash ends up being firewood for lack of a sawmill to cut it into usable boards. The native woods up here on the cold prairie are ash, elm, boxelder, and cottonwood, and nobody is willing to invest in a sawmill for that kind of wood with little value.

All the good hardwood for woodworking around here has to be shipped in from areas that have a supply of the better species and sawmills to slice it up.

Ash has been used for many years for fine furniture .

not to mention famous baseball bats ,,, its hardly trash wood . That said I do use a lot of it for fire wood .
