Re: Kaizen Foam?

Post by Gene Howe »

What is your project? How thick did you buy?
I use quite a bit of it for French fitting rifles, pistols and knives in cases.
For my purposes, I use a long nosed marker from Fast Cap. I also buy the Kaizen from them.
The piece I'm cutting for always rests on a 1/2" thickness.
Since I upholster The cases, the bottoms of the cavities need to be fairly smooth. You won't get a smooth bottom after excavating the cavity. So, a heated quarter sized disk is used to flatten the roughness. That tool is part of the hot knife kit, also from Fast Cap. Another procedure would involve cutting totally through the foam and using an uncut piece under that. Then, gluing them together. 3M 77 works well.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
