Power Pro Lifeless
Upgraded (self-install) my 510 in 2014 to Power Pro and other than replacing quill bearings have had no real issues. Last used on Wed but Fri it was unresponsive, no display or sign of life. Reading past forums tells me I may be in for an extended down-time, so my last 2 bowls will be a true hands-on finishing experience. I verified power source, power at switch, switch function, dis-assembled & reset all connectors. I'm holding off going into the power unit until I talk to Shopsmith after the weekend.... what, not a 24-7 operation??

Yeah, I wouldn't even think of upgrading based on the many posts of PP failures and the lack of CS responsiveness. Sure hope they get it all worked out soon.

I was thanking the same thing.

Re: Power Pro Lifeless
I have had my powerpro for four years or so... never had a problem... But I also have two other non powerpro 500’s and a 10er as backups....

I bought my Power Pro full up head stock and double tilt upgrade in December 2013 from Dave Folkerth at Lowe's in Salt Lake City and have never had a problem.

Re: Power Pro Lifeless
I have had the self upgrade PP for 7 or 8 years with no problems. Keep in mind that those who have problems with their products almost always say so. Customers that have no problems are for the most part silent about it. I have no regrets about purchasing my PP and would buy again if mine got totaled out in a fire or something.

Re: Power Pro Lifeless
I would love to own a PP but it isn't in the budget right now. If it were, I think I would be a little hesitant to pull the trigger with the issues I have read about here combined with the apparent lack of responsiveness from customer service that seems to accompany these issues.

Re: Power Pro Lifeless
Unfortunately, the readers here on the forum have absolutely no idea of what the real numbers are? How many PowerPro units have been sold and are in use. What percentage of those have had issues? We could do a poll but even those results would be misleading! The membership here on the forum represents a very, very small segment of the user population and I seriously doubt that the results would be representative.
