Okay I am a guy on a budget. I need to find part number 514416 for a shopsmith 510 that I just got for really cheap. The part is the tool rest post.
She does run but I don't have all the lathe parts. I love shopsmith but the part costs $79.17 from shopsmith.
Anyone got one the are willing to part with?

Re: NEED PARTS PLEASE
Hi and welcome to the forum. Since no one has responded yet I am guessing none of our regulars like me have an extra post. All is not lost though, you could check for parts at on-line auction sites and maybe get one cheaper than buying a new one. The post is not a common missing part so finding just the post may be difficult. Good Luck

Re: NEED PARTS PLEASE
Although just the post is rarely on E-Bay, an entire assembly is and will contain the post. Any version post will work(except Mark 2/ 10E/ER).

Re: NEED PARTS PLEASE
If there is someone who has done a double tilt upgrade, they ended up with two unused posts. Not the same post by any means but MIGHT one of those work?

Re: NEED PARTS PLEASE
Dusty,
I thought of that looking at my old posts. Although it would not have all the machining the original post has the post could be cut shorter to match the height of the lathe post. It would not have the groove where the set screw goes so after a while you would have a lot of raised set screw cup marks making it harder to turn the arm on the post. Someone with a metal lathe could cut that groove in. If you are using the lever handle locks, they have a flat end and should be okay without the groove. There is a 510 post and 2 position arm, no tool rest, for sale on ebay for $32.95 + shipping from a seller I have dealt with and trust.
