lift assist mark 7

Post by cocob »

I put the lift assist on the new machine and the curved arm sits on top of the release knob on the right side so can't be released for under table operations and after putting it on and aligning it the work table will not sit down onto the rod that locks it in place it sits on top of it. Also when in the drill press position was running the quill out and it fell out don't think this is normal I've had the machine for about a month now and haven't cut a piece of wood yet been trying to get some answers from ss but no luck.

Wow you have had some increasingly bad luck with your machine. No the quill should not fall out..... and now that it has you will need to rewind the spring and hope that it is still connected and put the quill back in. There is a set screw on top of the head stock(it might be covered with gunk) that apparently wasn't tightened when the quill was installed. The set screw should allow the quill to go in and out but keep it from falling out.

There are instructions to do this and either I or another member will be along to post them.

Now the lift, not sure where you are with that. Could you get us some pictures to see how it is mounted?

I'll see if I can find a link to some pictures I posted a while back of how mine mounts which might help you.

Welcome to the forum. Here is the link to the Sawdust Session that shows how to remove/reinstall the quill and a copy of the pdf document that is referenced.
