New Shopsmith Videos on FB
Those of you who Facebook should check out Shopsmith's feed. There are new videos featuring Jim McCann.
In one he shows how to deal with installing the new casters if they aren't fitting into the plungers.
In the other he shows how to replace the bench tubes and mentions that there have been some badly assembled Mark 7s with bad bench tubes (they are replacing the bench tubes) causing a variety of issues, including not sitting on the floor properly.

Re: New Shopsmith Videos on FB
Thanks for pointing this out. Good to know. I choose not to use FB myself, but I can borrow a family member's account when I want to see Shopsmith's pages to look for specials, etc. Even though I don't use FB, I am glad to see Shopsmith using it more for connecting with customers. I have seen a lot of interaction on the new customer service page they have there as well. Lately it seems like most woodworking tool companies are doing tool giveaways where they get their customers to join their respective FB, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, etc. channels. It dramatically increases their social media, i.e. marketing presence. I don't know if the financials would justify it, but it would be interesting if Shopsmith offered a similar kind of giveaway, e.g. a free PowerPro or maybe a free accessory to incentivize owners to help them boost their online presence and marketing reach...algale wrote:Those of you who Facebook should check out Shopsmith's feed. I don't do Facebook (or any other "Social Media" for that matter). I do hope SS posts the videos here.algale wrote:Those of you who Facebook should check out Shopsmith's feed. There are new videos featuring Jim McCann.

Nope, no way, to many breeches on these sites. I have never been on any site that has had breeches over the past few years and I want to keep it that way. If the industry finally figures out how to fix the problem maybe. I doubt I will live long enough to see that. It is only getting worse with no end in site.ChrisNeilan wrote:John, try facebook... you CAN choose to view only what you may want to view, such as Shopsmith pages. the rest of the internet can wait!jsburger wrote:I don't do Facebook (or any other "Social Media" for that matter). Another non user. Miss out on a lot of grandkids photos etc but just to much mistrust on my part so I live with it. So if I'm will to miss out on those things you can bet shopsmith is not going to lure me in.

Re: New Shopsmith Videos on FB
Shopsmith seems to be making a big effort to beef up its FB presence.
In addition to the videos, there is a new Customer Support Group page on FB where they say they will attempt to answer questions. They kicked it off with a give away promotion where everyone who posted a photo of a project built on a Shopsmith was promised a free gift (not holding my breath for Mark 7
).
There is also a new post on Customer Support Group FB page announcing another promotion (gift card give away) coming soon.
And they posted that they will be doing a demo at the Mothership store in Dayton.
So, if you aren't on FB you may miss out on a few things. But I get the reluctance to join.

Does it seems as though the Forum is no longer important to them.algale wrote:Shopsmith seems to be making a big effort to beef up its FB presence.

I'm between a rock and a hard place on this. Way back when, after the Sawdust Sessions stopped, I was quite vocal (including a letter to Shopsmith) about how important it was for Shopsmith to be visible. I included reference to FB in that letter. I have since abandoned Facebook and Pinterest and now I have become isolated from a lot of good information.
