Pro Planer Has Arrived
After 3 months and 5 days, the Pro Planer finally arrived yesterday. Gee, I thought, since it took so long, they were putting it together for me, but no, it came in two large boxes. So, that is my project for today. I'm sure glad, I ordered the casters for it. It weighs 151 lbs. I've spent the last 1-1/2 hours reading the manual, wanting to have an idea what to expect when I assemble it.

I set the planer up today, minus the castors, which I'll do tomorrow. I have some issues with the setup, though.
The small 3" pulley on the planer, the manual says, 1/2" from edge of planer which I did. When I try to line it up with the bottom 5" pulley, then the bottom pulley touches the legs. I can only come up with two options to correct this problem. Move the top 3" pulley 5/8" from edge of planer which would leave the shaft inside the pulley by 1/8". The other option would be to shim up the planer on the belt side a little canting the top pulley, then dropping the back side of motor to cant 5" pulley the same, there by letting me line up the two pulleys. Any thoughts or ideas on this?

I will like to see what Nick says on this. I had my planer about 20 years now with the same issue. I moved the pulley out a little but but it then rubs the guard. Love the planer 100%. Be sure to wax the table so the wood feeds right.
