jigsaw leaking and noisy
So I went over everything, parts all move, there was no oil anywhere.
I unplugged all hole and put a new gasket and, triple check the vet hole is clear.
touch oil on the blade shaft.
Added oil, standing upright, none leaked out.
turned it on and got oil leaking out of the top of the blade shaft.
double checked everything ok. check old post and there talk of replacing a seal.
Is this seal replacement simple enough that a jackass like myself can do?
Also it's noisy--quick video on that, like below.
Also when I double check the housing has lots of oil in it, none leaking out the side of the gasket, just the top. pix below.
What is the post guide for behind the blade housing?
Thanks for the help.

Re: jigsaw leaking and noisy
Fill the oil through the fill hole in the upright (vertical) position until the oil just runs out the hole. Sounds like you might have over filled it. The noise is not bad. They are more noisy than the newer parallel arm scroll saws. The post holds a round phenolic rod with a grove in the end that backs up the blade.farley wrote:So I went over everything, parts all move, there was no oil anywhere.

Re: jigsaw leaking and noisy
I'll hold it up right again, to see if any oil spills out, didn't last time.
It didn't take anywhere near 3 oz.
I must be missing a part that sits on the post. I'll try to figure it out looking at a part pix.

Re: jigsaw leaking and noisy
Skip Campbell at MKCTools has them. http://www.mkctools.com/10erparts.htm He is the 10ER guru. He sells them for the 10ER jig saw but they are the same part for the newer Magna/SS jig saw.farley wrote:I'll hold it up right again, to see if any oil spills out, didn't last time.

Re: jigsaw leaking and noisy
The other thing that could be happening is that you added a detergent oil, if so drain and refill with a non-detergent.

ok remove all oil lay in base.
all running fine.
using Flying Dutchman scroll saw blades and it works great, just like I remember from the 80's when I use to use my first one.
last questions: when you take off your cover and gasket.
Do you see a pool of oil?
Thanks for all the help
