Looking for suggestions on "How to Clean & Maintain" the tubes?

For routine maintenance, the consensus here is a periodic application of JPW original (Johnson's Paste Wax). It keeps the headstock sliding nicely, and helps prevent rust.
As far as cleaning them, what condition are they in currently? I like Barkeeper's Friend (oxalic acid is the active ingredient) for removing grime and light tarnish. But there are plenty of ways to deal with heavy oxidation as well.

I have been using paste wax applied with a piece of scotch bright and then buffed, The scotch bright catches any bumps or small rust spots, smooth.
