Is it the set screw threads that are stripped, or the hex hole. Hows the shape of the allen wrench?

IF you could get to it, I'd almost say solder(JB-Weld) a old hex key into the socket, maybe try to stuff something like paper in the socket to take up slake?

Stripped 3/32 Set Screw
I find this problem quite often. I use the #1 screw extractor from http://www.mcmaster.com/ If it is not successful, I use a 5/64" drill to drill through most of the set screw and retry the screw extractor. This has worked for me every time. You do not want to pry on the Speed Control Handle as it does warp and can break around the set screw. I use an anti-seize compound only on this set screw and always use a new set screw when reinstalling the Speed Control Handle. I sent all of my Speed Control Handles to GRANY555 (Ebay Item number: 220282450124 ) for installing the steel gear. I have no problems with the set screw when using these Speed Control Handles.

judaspre1982 wrote:Bob, it is the hex socket of the screw. I have a brand new set of Klein t-handle hex keys. Once I established the screw had a stripped hex socket I stopped using my good set and tried using an old 3/32 hex key. I even ground the old key down to get a good even end on it. No luck.----Dave

Depending on how far gone the set screw is you can use a powder graphite that is usually available at HD and Lowes. It has worked for me on all types of screws. You need a little resistance for this to work. If you are able to free spin then it wont work and to go with Bills Method
Here is what I usually use http://www.ezgrip.net/
