Weekly email sales

Post by bainin »

Is this normal?-it feels a bit too often to me...kinda like trying to burn down inventory.

Which makes me more nervous than weekly email deals :)

Well, I raised this as a question in past threads, i.e. are they doing it for inventory reduction, but I don't think anyone really knows. My hope is they are doing it to spur (drive) sales. I do believe some of the accessories are only built in small production batches, so I think they use the weekly specials to gauge how much interest there is for a particular item, then they go and build quantity to match it. Similar to the limited production runs for ONETIME tools at Woodpeckers. On the plus side, if there is an accessory that you want from Shopsmith, and you are patient, just wait for the upcoming weekly special for it and buy it at a discount. That is of course, if you want a new one and not a used version from eBay, etc.

This subject has been discussed before. I have signed to receive the weekly E-Mail sales notices and have never gotten them. I used to get them in the past but no more. Not my loss.

I had a similar problem but finally resolved it earlier this year. I had been on the Shopsmith postal mail and email list for years and years then all of a sudden I stopped getting them a couple of years ago. After a few tries with customer service, I miraculously started getting emails again. It wasn't easy...For anyone that isn't getting the email specials, you can always check the website by clicking on Products->Current Specials. Note that most "deals" only last a few days, so you have to check the website a couple times a week to catch them.
