Hello all!

I'm excited to get using this machine. My sister donated her Shopsmith V, along with the Band Saw with the stand alone table and motor to me. I believe it was made in the 80's. It's been sitting for years but everything seems to work with some cleaning, lubing, etc.

My question is about the pulleys for the band saw. The saw has the same 5/8" shaft as the lathe but the motor that mount under the table has a 5/8" with a key way slot.

I have one pulley and no belt. The pulley has a set screw and a key way slot so it will go on either shaft. It has 2 grooves with one OD 2", the other is 3".

I'm going to assume the speed is important so the right pulleys in the right place is important but I can't find any info on this. I do have the coupler for the lath but I would rather have it separate.

Beyond that all I need is blades and new tires, urethane or rubber?

Oddly enough, Shopsmith hid the information you are looking for in the instructions for their accessory pulley guard. You can download a copy using the link below.

I’ve never needed to replace the tires on my bandsaw, so I’ll let other advise on that.

The bandsaw wheels are just under 12" in diameter with the rubber tires mounted. That means that the circumference would be just over three feet. At 1000 RPM the blade speed is just about 3000 feet per minute which I believe to be the maximum for a bandsaw. I generally run a bit slower.
You mentioned the motor under the table so I will assume that you have a power stand for the bandsaw. If so what you need to do is is get a compatible pulley from a farm supply store, Tractor Supply, Rural King etc. Find the RPM speed of the motor and choose a pulley size that will produce a saw speed of less than 3000 FPM. (feet per minute)
A farm store should have a pulley that will work for you but you will have to measure for the correct belt length.

Nice find, that's perfect! I have the 2"-3" pulley already.

BuckeyeDennis found it all on one page. I will look at Tractor Supply but 5/8" is not as common.

Note there is a file naming error on the Shopsmith filename as seen when opened....

Honestly, I found everything I need on their website. The pulley, key way, tires, belt and a blade is just over $100 shipped. Easier than running around looking for it and I know it will all work. I'm going to call Monday to make sure it's all in stock.

Yeah, a few of us have had the Shopsmith orange urethane tires come off of the wheel unfortunately (see thread below). If you go with urethane, order the blue max ones from ebay. Or get the rubber ones from Shopsmith and glue them on.
