I was bored and had no projects in line so I decided to make another, but larger golf ball in a block, but this time for a pool ball in a block.

Methinks this quarantine may be getting to some of us ....

That is beautiful.

I made a toilet paper roller to specifically fit some commercial rolls that I abandoned from my businesses (I knew if I kept them it would pay off! )

How in the world did you fit that fat billiard ball thru those tiny slots !

soak a soft wood in ALMOST boiling water for 5-10 minutes then push through. Search internet golfball in a wood block. Size changes for pool ball. 1-3/4 Forster bit for this pool ball. 1/4” sides of opening. See my attached attempt at drawing plans.

Don’t know, just followed the instructions I found on the net!
The first one I made of a golf ball I made with padouk and it being a harder wood I had to leave it in hot water for a looonnnnggg time.

FYI My drawing shows 1-7/8” bit but I said 1-3/4” bit, my calculations said 1-7/8” but only had 1-3/4”, so I had to push a little harder being careful not to break sides.

I started on a golf ball version a couple of years ago. This is as far as I got:
Now I have to find the rest of the plans to be able to make them. When I dug the blanks out I also found these:
I made a batch but these have not been finished yet. I don't love sanding so I know why they are still in this state.

Guess I will never get everything done but it would be nice to finish off at least a few of these projects.

I was just looking at one with a pool ball in a block like the one you have with square inside. I wish I would have seen that one first. I might just break the one I made and redo in the bigger block. I’ll see after I think on it for a while.

Well Ed I went ahead and did it. I broke the pool ball out of the holder and went ahead and drilled out a 3”x3” cube and have it soaking and will try after the appropriate time to get it in. I have jury rigged a vise (sort of) to press it in at the appropriate time. I will photo and post, if it works.
