I completed my first project that I used a router on, fittingly it is a router table! I wanted something that I could attach to the Shopsmith so it could be stored more easily and to take advantage of the weight and stability of the SS. Another advantage is it is height adjustable.

The design was something I came up with, but I got some inspiration by looking at what other people have done. Overall dimensions are 43" x 26" x 1.5".

Top wood is a better quality plywood, maple top finished in light honey oak polyurethane. I used solid pine for the supports underneath, I needed solid wood as it is better for putting the inserts in than plywood or MDF. Rousseau fence and plate insert I got a great deal on, still in the box, on fleabay. Of course, that is a genuine SS leg set that I used to attach it to the SS, using brass threaded inserts and stainless bolt and washer. The carriage bolt inserts I got from Jordan Bolts out of Texas. The legs on the outer edge are the stock SS 520 legs, fitted to CI floor flange and a 3/4" pipe nipple cut in half. The post in the middle is a support for a boat cover, telescopes to fit and pretty solid, available on fleabay or Amazon. All the rest of the T-Track and accessories came from Rockler. Oh, and all the things I messed up I used JB-Weld to fill in and fix, I really like the JB-Weld Wood!

Overall, pretty happy with the end result, I certainly learned a lot doing this project. Now, I just need to pick a project to try it out on.

Sure it is big enough?

I bought a 510 tube set, left over from an upgrade, and here's my first project applying it.

I took a Bosch router table that was taking up too much space in the shop and freed the top from it. I cut it down to the size of the main table on my brownie 510, added a couple of plates on the ends and bolted up a pair of the short tubes. It slips in like an extension table.
I expect a lot of people have done setups like this. The Bosch table just makes it really easy.
