Line-X on Bandsaw Table

I am in the process of restoring my shopsmith and a thought crossed my mind. Has anyone ever used Line-X (or any kind of spray-on liner) to protect their bandsaw / saw table? I have the old cast iron bandsaw table and a liner seems like a good idea to me, but I though it would be a good idea to look before I leaped. I could see some potential issues with the mitre gauge grooves, but other than that I can't think of any problems.

Has anyone used any kind of paint or liner on their table? How did it turn out?

You really can’t put a coating with any significant thickness in the miter grooves, because then the miter gauge wouldn’t fit. Also, you want the table to be slippery.

Assuming that your table surface is in good condition, I’d recommend spraying it with Boeshield T-9. Once dry, apply a coat of Johnson’s Paste Wax. That combo keeps my cast-iron tables in great shape.

If the table has any rust pits, first clean off any rust, and then apply Penetrol to seal the pits.
