Some time back I was at a Woodcraft store and I picked up this compact stropping kit from Flex-Cut:

This has really come in handy for the lathe & bench chisels, and plane irons. The velvet/leather surfaces have a variety of profiles to help get both sides of the edge cleaned up. It's a pretty inexpensive kit, too.
