Just thought I would take some time to introduce myself... before I start hitting you people up for advice.
I am recently retired operating engineer...mechanic...welder...and hobby machinist. In Canada enjoy adventure riding... hunting...fishing and generaling helping all my buddies keep there equipment running.
I currently have my mark v in pieces...looking for a bearing for my shave control (in Canada so not so easy).
I bought the machine mostly for the lathe in the start... But as I became a little more educated , I realized how much more this thing will do.
Anyways , looking forword to meeting some new people and exchanging ideas, eh!

Welcome, there is plenty of knowledge in this group and they are all willing to help so ask away. You won't find a better group of people.

Here is my current issue... thought it was going to be simple repair...my bearing supplier is ordering a replacement bearing... but really could not give me a time when it might arrive.
The bearing is a 5 x 19 x 6 .... which for some reason is hard to find.
I can get a 6 x 19 x 6... no problem while I am waiting for the proper bearing I may turn a new center button on lathe with a 6 mm shaft.
Any thoughts against doing this?

Here are two threads full of ideas. My approach with JB Weld is still holding up, and I have been using the advice of keeping the bearing well lubed by oiling it in the drill press position. If I seen redleg's method before I repaired mine, I would have tried that first.
