Fly Tying Desk

I retired September 1st and I like it! I can go to my shop anytime I want, weather and wife permitting of course. My daughter's boyfriend asked for a fly tying station or desk and I had some salvaged materials laying around. We had a student desk that we picked up at a yard sale several years ago for $25.00 and I'm reusing a salvaged oak countertop that I've had for at least 20 years and some oak boards that I saved from an airport remodel last year. The new tying station will cover the original desk top and can be lifted off if desired. I sanded all the old oak and will try to stain it to go with the desk. I believe the desk is made with maple so I know the grain won't match but maybe the color will be close. I'll replace the nails in the last picture with brass rod to hold thread spools. Actually the stain is drying now and I'll add that pic when I get it all back together. All the tool shelves bolt to the top and can be changed out/modified if his tool/material storage configuration changes. All I have had to buy is the brass rod.
