SS Planer Question

I have the SS planer and have had great results on Maple, Paduk, Walnut etc.

I usually just leave the headstock on S or T and the unit feed rate on 10 figuring fast blade spin and slow feed rate will give me the best results.

But, I have a question - on the unit, it says that for most woods and cut depths, 10 is the maximum speed of feed (using T on the motor control) but for some hard woods and/or deeper cuts, it states that 5 or 6 is the maximum speed.

So far, so good but, I noticed that 10 is the slowest feed rate and 1 is the fastest rate - so, aren't these instructions wrong? Shouldn't the max rate on a wide or deep or hardwood cut be slower than the lighter cuts? Are the markings on the speed control (on the unit, not the SS head) reversed?

I'm absolutely positive, but on my pro planer, I'm sure "1" is the slow feed rate. Since, I'm at work, I can't verify that right now.

If you don't mind, would you check and let me know? That's the way I figure it should be but not how mine is marked.

Hmm - wonder how mine got reversed - 10 is definitely a lot slower than 1. Oh well, so long as I know it's reversed, now the directions make a lot more sense.

Yep!! Mine is 10=fast and 1=slow as well.
