HELP: Dustcollector Bags

This has been a frustration for all of the years that I have owned the DC3300 Dust Collector.

Changing the collection bag gives me reason to cuss every time I do it.

The circumference of the dust collector (where the bag attaches) is approximately 50". The circumference of the replacement bags is 64". Can anyone tell me why AND what do you do with the excess. I've tried distributing and I tried folding it. Neither works well and both are a PITA big time.

Do the new bags (listed in the 6600 parts list) resolve this. I tried ordering a package but the Shopsmith website doesn't recognize the part number (523094).

Also - what is the difference between P/N 556446 thebags I have) and P/N 556469 (pops up when I search for "dust collector bag").

Dusty,

I share your frustration. In the past I kind of folded the bag over on itself a bit at the top but it is very awkward to keep the bag inside the ring and above the housing while trying to tighten it. The bag clips help some but it is still a precarious operation trying to attach a new bag. I hope someone has a good suggestion for this.

Just a small rant: The only correct way to deal with this is for Shopsmith to sell bags that fit or to define a third party source for bags the fit.

PS Another rant. The clips were just mentioned. I am missing two clips. Went to order replacements. No Way. Nearly $ 5.00 each plus shipping.

Thanks! I had seen that before but 1st attempt to purchase came out empty. Never went shopping again to find them.

After years of putting up with this, I found a partial solution today. I put on a new bag in about 5 minutes without punching any unwanted holes.

I simply laid the dust collector down on its sides, wrapped the bag around the housing, folded over the excess and tapped it in place with packing tape and then installed the adjustable ring.

Could have a neater job dealing with the excess. Next time.
