This started a project 2 years ago with a trip to the saw mill and the purchase of a little over 250 bd ft of rough cut Hickory , some 6x6 , some 2x4 and a bunch of 1x? what ever they could get from the log , some was 1/4 sawn some was flat sawn and some was rift sawn, it dried for over a year and 1/2 and took up a lot of garage space during that time. after the porch was finally enclosed and the electric was installed the real work began , about three months ago the wife and I started the interior , one board at a time we cut and prepared each piece of wood , the hickory had to be cut to fit between each hickory post and was rabbited on opposite edges to fit together , we thought about a tong and grove ion the boards but decided to just lap then about 3/4 inch on both edges , the MKV done a excellent job , we even rabbited the edge on the 2x4 hickory beams for the ceiling and the door trim , the MKV once again came through with flying colors, I used every cutter and spacer in the stacked dado set and it did a awesome job . this took us quite a while do to the limits on my health but thats life of a old guy . I had issues with the saw horse table when it came to putting the beads on the light bezels and than I got smart and used the SS and the work station as a bench , here are a few pictures of our progress,
