Blade guard spacer

My table saw blade guard (lower) had a thin cheap feeling aluminium spacer at the bottom I can bend it with my fingers can this be right? The guard looks like a 505628

It is made of aluminum and very flexible. It is to give extra space in the lower guard for using a dado or other wide cutters like the molder head.
