Old saw table on newer carriage?

I bought a Greenie for a second SS I intend on shortening the tubes by a third to dedicate it to drill press/drive 11" band saw. It had the original saw table complete but is missing the carriage. I have an opportunity to pick up a newer carriage (has a wheel for table lift) for a fair price but some of what I've read has me concerned they won't work together. Anybody know for sure?

The mounting tubes center to center spacing is greater on the newer tables and carriage.

Get a Model 500 carriage instead. As a drill press it won't be a adjusting table height anyway, it will move the table forward and back under the drill press. A hand wheel doesn't have much of an advantage there.

Ignoring the move the handle requirement.

You mean moving it to the other side? That one is easy. The lock takes a little bit of work.

No I was referring to the table getting in the way of the lever and the lever needing to be moved radially on the quill shaft away from the table.

If you move the handle to other side of the table it's not an issue unless you are using the fence, and that isn't much of an issue anyway, I rarely do more than make minor adjustments to the table position so with the handle straight up there's enough movement available.
