Hello All, I've just disassembled the head of my '54 for inspection, cleaning & lubing. Overall it looks pretty decent, although sorely neglected by PO. Sheaths hadn't been lubed in no telling how long, probably resulting in the stripping of several teeth on the speed dial. It looks like it might be an insert, or maybe all cast together ( I can't tell). I see there's as guy on EBay that does swaps, but can I just get the insert and install it myself?
EDIT: Ignore this. I just ordered the one off of Ebay from grany555ver2.0. I'd delete the thread, but don't have permissions to do so.

If you had the question someone else will too, so it's good to leave the thread. As you probably found, it is not an insert on the original part. There is an ebay seller that makes a recess and inserts a steel part. New and used replacements are also available. Damage to this part is fairly common.timsch wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 10:26 pm EDIT: Ignore this. I just ordered the one off of Ebay from grany555ver2.0.
