When I placed my last order I asked a few questions regarding sawdust sessions, the traveling academy, and the national academy. The sales staff said at this time there are no plans for sawdust sessions, the traveling academy, and the national academy. ShopSmith like many other companies is feeling the effects of the downturn in the economy. Money is tight.
My company is a Not-for-profit and our business plan going into this fiscal year was for no growth and to basically break even. Now that we are almost half-way through the our fiscal year we have had to re-plan, restructure, and reduce our work force. Even with all our re-planning we will are going to loss 1 million dollars this year or more if things get worse.
Our clients are spending less and expecting more for what they do spend on us. This has translated into longer days and no paid overtime.
I hope that Shopsmith gets some of the Federal Funding and is able to emerge stronger and better at the end of this economic trouble period of time.

I bought the set of six sawdust session DVD's. Got the first one last week or so the rest are on backorder. So far I am happy with having them since I don't have high speed internet I can now watch the sessions at home and in the shop to practice what is being taught. I don't know if the other sessions will be available beyond the set of six. I sure do hope so there was alot of good information on those sessions.

I just ordered the 6 and got confirmation but nothing about back order. I'd sure like to see them produce more so we can purchase all this valuable information. For new woodworkers like me who own a Shopsmith they really are great. Even though I'm 65 I hope to be able to learn and to be able to rely on this machine for years to come.
